Good Shepherd’s 2010 Sheep-Seek Event

THE SHEEP HAVE BEEN FOUND!

We are excited to share that all 5 sheep havea been located, and returned to Good Shepherd so that the next phase of the project can begin.

We have left the original rules and clues (except for the very last one) listed below, in case you enjoy figuring out riddles...send us an e-mail if you'd like to guess where they were hiding.

Good Shepherd’s 2010 Sheep-Seek Event

“Love your neighbor…”

While these words of Jesus enter our ears, we often stick with doing the comfortable stuff. In other words, we feel pretty good about giving $5 to the food shelf.

What would happen if you had a few dollars to give that would actually make a difference in somebody’s life?

This is your chance.  There are 5 sheep (toys with tags to identify them) hidden around Glencoe. Your mission is to find them by navigating through 1 of 5 sets of clues. After you find a sheep, you will bring it to Pastor James at Good Shepherd (1407 Cedar Ave N), who will award your prize: $10 gift card to Subway, $10 gift card to Casey’s…and $100 cash.

On your word alone, we are asking that you use the gift cards for yourself…as fuel for your journey to serving others. With the $100 cash, we are asking you to make a difference in somebody else’s life. Perhaps it is paying a bill, buying a few groceries, covering the cost of a meal…do one big thing, or several smaller ones. That’s up to you. We ask, again on your word alone, that you would kindly share your experience with our church – in person, or by letter that will be presented to the congregation of Good Shepherd on April 11, 2010.

Rules:

1)      Sheep are hidden in the City of Glencoe

2)      You will not need to use tools to uncover or otherwise access the sheep

3)      Limit 1 sheep per person (but, if a whole family is involved…that’s okay)

4)      Clues will run from Monday, February 22 to Saturday, February 27

a.      Clues will be posted here at www.gslcglencoe.org/clues.htm only!

b.      Clues will be posted daily at NOON

5)      The pastor’s wife does NOT know where the sheep are hidden…don’t even ask her. J

6)      Winners will provide contact information to Good Shepherd for the purpose of keeping in touch and following up on the experience of serving & loving a neighbor.

This fun event is one way to promote our mission: “Seeking and Serving the Lost and Hurting.” Thank you for being a part of this with us!

Clues for Sheep 1, 2 & 3

1) Sheep don't growl.

     Sheep don't bark.

     This special lamb

     is in a Glencoe park.

2) Joshua 24:26

3) Playgrounds, can be fun

    Swinging, sliding and spinning.

    Check the equipment.

4) Apostasy and backsliding

Are those who stray from Divine.

      Face-first and butt-sliding, though,

On the "chutes" are perfectly fine.

    ***FOUND***

1) A conflict of textures,

     of wooly and steel.

 This sheep can be found

 a couple blocks

from a hometown meal.

2) Genesis 21:27

3) Honestly, friends,

     If you haven't begun -

     You just might consider

     A really big gun!

***FOUND!!!***

1) If sheep hung out at the North Pole,

they might trade hoof for ski.

But, this sheep sits in the windy climes

of an Eastern part of our fair city.

2) Luke 10:8

3) Follow your heart.

     Let the Spirit lead.

A clue can be helpful, but...

      Gotta change how you read!

4) Force is sometimes necessary

If you're armed and have the cause.

But, as vets know - and others, too

      At the sight...to stop...and give a pause.

5) Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace,

He's also the King of Kings.

With campy joy, I'll also say

He's Lord of Burgers and Onion Rings.

Clues for Sheep 4 & 5

1) Baa baa black sheep, have you any wool?

Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Several bins full.

2) Song of Solomon 1:8

3) Offerings are "collected" and so is the trash.

    The stuff in-between?

    It's got its own stash.

4) Reading, wRighting and 'Rithmetic -

     A pseudo-3 "R's" plan

But, if you're into a 'greener' earth

     You'd R-R-R your cans.

5) Sitting on the fence gets you nowhere

Try standing your ground and be tough

No, not the smooth side with the concrete

Reality puts you in the rough.

1) To begin your search, you have a choice.

The flock shall follow when they hear His voice.

2)  John 10:14

3) Privately owned by a big bunch of people.

There's brick all around, but not on the steeple.

Yet...all are welcome. It's not just for members.

    Looking for a lost lamb...

...might mean going out on a limb.

4) The Bible says that grass does fade,

     but the Word endures. Forever

Greens give a home to birds in winter...

    And sheep in snowy weather.

5) "Where the sidewalk ends" -

A book of poem and rhyme

Along that path, heading east or west,

The sheep's in the tree...without the climb.

Oh, Those Beautiful Sheep!
