Good Shepherd Church (LCMS)

Currently, our District meets every 3 years in convention. Many things are decided here...or, certain topics/decisions may be sent to the Synod convention the following year.

This year, there are some hot topics: theAlley Lutheran Church (Cottage Grove, MN) is a mission church, begun by Woodbury Lutheran Church. There is some disagreement as to whether or not it should be allowed to join the Missouri Synod. For the President's Report on this topic, click here.

Another topic for discussion is that of subsidizing English-speaking mission congregations. The issue at hand is whether or not the district should disribute mission funds for new churches who do not use (or do not plan to use) the LSB (Lutheran Service Book) as their primary worship tool.

Also, regarding mission congregations...the question of who has authority to enforce Close(d) Communion on district-subsidized churches.

All three of these issues are given some thought on this site.
